Things to do in Seattle

Harbor Cruise

A one-hour narrated cruise around Elliott Bay from Pier 55, with the skyline, the working port and, on clear days, the mountains.

The useful answer

Should this fit your day?

Best for
First-time visitors who want to see the skyline and the port from the water on a waterfront afternoon.
Time to protect
Protect about 90 minutes: arrive 20 to 30 minutes early to board, an hour on the water, then a few minutes to get off.
Cruise-day fit
Pier 55 is on the same downtown waterfront as Pier 66, less than a mile south. It fits nicely the day before a sailing or after you get off the ship, but a fixed departure is risky on embarkation day.
From the terminals
Pier 66 is the natural pairing, and the walk between them passes the Aquarium on Pier 59. Pier 91 needs a separate ride.
Before a flight
A set departure and a gate that closes five minutes early make this a poor last-hour stop. Choose a sailing that ends with plenty of time for the drive to SEA.

Pier 55 is not the Pier 66 cruise terminal

Both are on the downtown waterfront, so they're easy to mix up. Check these before your sightseeing cruise.

  1. 1. Use the right address.

The harbor cruise boards at Pier 55, 1101 Alaskan Way. The Pier 66 cruise terminal is at 2225 Alaskan Way. Give your driver the Pier 55 address.

  2. 2. Arrive before boarding starts.

Boarding opens 20 to 30 minutes before departure and the gate closes 5 minutes before, so leave time for waterfront traffic.

  3. 3. Sort out your big bags.

Argosy doesn't say anything about luggage on board, so ask them first or leave bags at your hotel. The Port lists same-day luggage storage at Pier 66 for cruise passengers.

What to know before you go

  1. 01

The cruise lasts about an hour, with a local guide telling the story of the waterfront and the shipping port as you go.

  2. 02

Boarding starts 20 to 30 minutes before departure and the gate closes 5 minutes before. Seats are first come, first served, indoors or out on deck.

  3. 03

Have a CityPASS? Redeem it online first to reserve your date and time and get a boarding pass. Space is limited, so do it early.

  4. 04

There's no outside food or drink on board, but there's a bar and packaged snacks. Bikes aren't allowed.

  5. 05

Argosy sails in most weather, but strong winds or smoke can cancel a trip, and the route can change with the weather and ship traffic.

Check Argosy's official site for current sailing times, tickets and any weather notices before you go.
