Things to do in Seattle

Waterfront Park

Downtown's rebuilt waterfront: the Overlook Walk down from Pike Place Market, Pier 62, Pier 58 and a promenade south to Pioneer Square, all free.

The useful answer

Should this fit your day?

Best for
Almost everyone: a free waterfront walk with views and playgrounds that links Pike Place Market, the Aquarium and the piers.
Time to protect
Stroll it in an hour, or make it the spine of a half day with the Market, the Aquarium and the Great Wheel.
Cruise-day fit
Pier 62 is a short walk south of the Pier 66 cruise terminal along Alaskan Way, which makes the park the easiest thing to do around a Pier 66 sailing. With cruise bags, use the Port's same-day luggage storage at Pier 66 first. Pier 91 is miles away and needs a ride.
From the terminals
Pier 66 sits just north of the park on the same waterfront. Pier 91 is a separate road trip, so plan a ride each way and a bigger buffer.
Before a flight
No tickets and no fixed times make it a flexible flight-day stop, but it's easy to wander from pier to pier. Set a leave time that covers the drive to SEA.

Which part of the waterfront to aim for

The park runs for blocks along Alaskan Way. Tell your driver which end you want.

  1. Overlook Walk and Pier 62

At Alaskan Way and Pine Street. Come down from Pike Place Market by the Overlook Walk, or get dropped here and walk up. This is the address our ride links use.

  2. Pier 58 and the Great Wheel

By Union Street, next to the Great Wheel on Pier 57: the playground, the lawn and the plaza.

  3. Step-free drop-off

The accessible loading zone is on the waterfront between Marion and Columbia streets.

Everything is free. If you're going on to the Aquarium or the Great Wheel, buy those tickets separately.

What to know before you go

  1. 01

Most of the park is open now. A few projects still have construction going on, and a new artwork for the Overlook Walk is due in winter 2027.

  2. 02

The Overlook Walk drops about 100 feet from Pike Place Market's MarketFront to the waterfront by the Aquarium, so you can walk, push a stroller or roll a wheelchair between the Market and the water without crossing Alaskan Way. It has an elevator, a play area, a café and wide views.

  3. 03

Pier 62 is an open pier park with a floating dock you can go down to (life jackets are on hand), plus restrooms, movable seats, free games and fishing off the pier.

  4. 04

Pier 58 opened in September 2025 with a central plaza, a lawn and a sea-themed playground with a 25-foot jellyfish to climb.

  5. 05

The Park Promenade runs south from the Aquarium to Pioneer Square, with a protected bike path alongside.

  6. 06

For step-free routes there are public elevators at Union Street, the MarketFront, the Pike Place Market garage and the Aquarium's Ocean Pavilion, and an accessible loading zone between Marion and Columbia streets.

  7. 07

Friends of Waterfront Park runs events through the year, including weekend firepit evenings on Pier 62 this winter.

Construction notices and events change through the year. Check the City's waterfront site for current access updates before you go.
