Things to do in Seattle

Woodland Park Zoo

A leafy zoo in north Seattle's Phinney Ridge, best for a relaxed half day rather than a quick stop squeezed between other plans.

The useful answer

Should this fit your day?

Best for
Families with kids and animal lovers with a free morning or afternoon in the city.
Time to protect
Protect three to four hours: at least two inside, plus the ride each way from downtown or the piers.
Cruise-day fit
The zoo isn't near either pier, so treat it as its own outing: the day before a sailing, or a long day after you get off the ship with your bags already handled.
From the terminals
Neither Pier 66 nor Pier 91 is walkable from the zoo. Plan a ride each way and leave a comfortable buffer.
Before a flight
The zoo is on the far side of the city from SEA, so save it for a free day rather than the hours before a flight.

Which zoo entrance to use

The zoo has two gates on opposite sides. Picking the right one saves a long walk around the outside.

  1. West Entrance

5500 Phinney Avenue North, near the Humboldt penguins. This is the address our ride links use.

  2. South Entrance

750 North 50th Street, near the African Savanna. Change the drop-off to this address if you'd rather start with the savanna.

Both entrances have guest services and rentals. Tell your driver which gate you want before you set off.
