Where to stay for your meetings
Pick the area where most of your meetings are. Moving between downtown, South Lake Union and Bellevue is easy outside rush hour, but a hotel across the lake from your meetings turns every morning into a commute.
- Downtown: the financial district, the convention center. Every downtown meeting is a short walk or ride.
- Belltown and South Lake Union: the offices in South Lake Union, with Seattle Center close by for a free evening.
- Bellevue and the Eastside: offices in Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland. Stay there rather than commuting across the lake.
- Near Seatac: one night around an early flight, or a meeting near the airport.
Getting between meetings
Add each meeting in the planner with its start time, how long it runs and the address. It works out the travel time from the stop before, flags a meeting you can't reach in time, and offers a ride for each leg.
With four or five stops in one day, a car by the hour can be simpler than booking separate rides: one booking covers the whole run of meetings.
Getting in from Seatac and back
Add your flight and the pickup at Seatac follows your landing time. For the flight home, be at the airport two hours before a domestic flight and three before an international one, plus the drive. The planner does that sum for you and times the ride from it.
A team or a group
Set the party size and the planner sizes every ride for it. If colleagues fly in from different cities, add each group with its own flight; the plan keeps their arrivals apart and brings them together in Seattle.
Questions
- Where should I stay for a business trip to Seattle?
- Near most of your meetings: downtown for the financial district and the convention center, Belltown or South Lake Union for offices there, and Bellevue for Eastside offices in Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland. An airport hotel only makes sense for one night around an early flight.
- Can I plan meetings at set times in the Seattle trip planner?
- Yes. Choose a work trip, then add each meeting to its day with the start time, length and address. The planner shows the travel time from the stop before, flags anything that would make you late, offers a ride for each leg, and keeps the free time around meetings for meals.
- When should I leave for Seatac after my last meeting?
- Be at the airport two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international one, then add the drive from where you are. Put your flight home in the planner and it times the ride to Seatac for you.
- Should I rent a car for a work trip to Seattle?
- Usually not if your meetings are downtown or in South Lake Union: hotel parking adds up and rides cover the short hops. A rental can make sense for meetings spread across the Eastside. The rental calculator compares both for your dates.
