1 day
One day in Seattle
The classic day: the Market, the Space Needle and a good dinner, with no backtracking.
Day 1: the Market and Seattle Center
- Morning
Pike Place Market food tour · 2–3 hours
Go early, before the Market fills up. The tour feeds you, so skip a big breakfast.
- Afternoon
Space Needle and Chihuly Garden · 1–2 hours
Chihuly Garden and Glass is next door; do both in one visit.
- Dinner
Toulouse Petit · Cajun
In lower Queen Anne, close to Seattle Center, so there is no trip back across town before dinner.

Plan Seattle by area, not by list
Most of what visitors want sits in three areas: Pike Place Market and the waterfront, Seattle Center (the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, the Museum of Pop Culture), and Pioneer Square to the south. Give each area a half day and the day is spent seeing things, not crossing town.
The planner orders each day for you and shows the travel time between stops, so you can see when two places are a short walk apart and when a ride saves the afternoon.
Where to stay for these plans
Downtown or the waterfront keeps every stop above close by. Belltown and lower Queen Anne are good for Seattle Center. An airport hotel suits a late landing or an early flight home, but every day starts with the drive into the city.
- Downtown and the waterfront: closest to the Market, the waterfront and Pioneer Square.
- Belltown and South Lake Union: between the Market and Seattle Center.
- Near Seatac: for one night around a flight, not for sightseeing days.
If it rains
Seattle plans should have a dry option. The Museum of Pop Culture and the Museum of Flight are indoors, and the Underground tour is mostly under the street. Swap one of them in on a wet afternoon; the planner moves the rides with it.
Games, concerts and shows on your dates
The planner shows the games and concerts on the dates you pick, with tickets and the ride there and back. The stadiums are just south of Pioneer Square, so a game fits neatly on the evening of day two.
Questions
- How many days do you need in Seattle?
- Two full days covers the classic sights: Pike Place Market, the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden, Pioneer Square and the waterfront. Add a third day for a trip out of the city to Snoqualmie Falls or Mount Rainier.
- What is a good 2-day Seattle itinerary?
- Day one: Pike Place Market in the morning, the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden in the afternoon, dinner in lower Queen Anne. Day two: the Underground tour in Pioneer Square, lunch nearby, a harbor cruise in the afternoon and dinner on the waterfront.
- Is there a free Seattle itinerary planner?
- Yes. The Seattle trip planner on seatac.co is free and needs no account. It lays the trip out day by day with meals, experiences, events on your dates, the travel time between stops and a ride for each leg. Each sample itinerary on this page opens in it with the stops already filled in.
- Do I need a car in Seattle?
- Not for the central sights: they are close together and a ride covers the longer hops. A rental can pay off for days out of the city, but downtown hotel parking adds up, so compare it for your dates first.
